Day four ( October 16th), our third day in Chicago
On our third day in Chicago in the morning we took a bus to visit the Museum of Science and Industry. It is the biggest science museum in the world and divided into different rooms and topics. We visited the “Apollo 11: First Steps Edition”, “Secrets of Universe”, “Extreme Ice” and the “Hidden Pacific” rooms. Inside of the rooms we could do experiments and watch different movies and short films about the topics. In some rooms there were big planes and buses displayed and in others we were able to see how a tornado forms.
We walked through the museum in groups and spent about two and a half to three hours in there. It was a lot of fun and we all were very interested in the topics and the rooms.
After the museum we visited Willis Tower and went on the Skydeck. Willis Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the western hemisphere. The Tower is the heart of downtown. The Skydeck offered us a spectacular view over the whole city and Lake Michigan. On the ledge, a glass balcony, which is on the 103rd floor of Willis Tower and extending four feet outside, we took pictures and filmed videos and watched the wonderful view from there. We spent about one hour in the Tower and after that we had free time, so we could do whatever we wanted to.
We decided to go to Five Guys in the evening as a whole group so that we could spend the last evening and night in Chicago all together. We ate typical American burgers and fries there. After finishing our delicious meal we all walked to Lake Michigan and watched the beautiful skyline of Chicago at night and also took some pictures there. With all the lights of the skyscrapers and houses the view was amazing and impressed us all. After that we thought it would be nice to watch the Cloud Gate or “the Bean” (which is what people usually call it because it looks like one) again at night. That is the reason why we walked to the Millennium Park. Luckily, almost no people were there, so we had a nice view on the Bean and could take some pictures there as well.
After this beautiful and nice day we went back to our hostel and packed our stuff for the following day for the flight to Oklahoma City. All of us were really impressed by this beautiful city and the skyline it has. We had seen a lot of really interesting sights in those few days and enjoyed the food, especially the deep-dish pizza. Everybody was tired that night but also terribly excited about our exchange students and families for the next two weeks.
